Golden Axe is a series of arcade game (Side-scrolling beat 'em up) from Sega, that includes the following 5 titles

• 1989 - Golden Axe for arcade and Sega Master System
• 1991 - Golden Axe II for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive/
• 1992 - Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (GA:TRODA) only for arcades
• 1993 - Golden Axe III only available through the SEGA Channel for Mega drive
• Golden Axe: Beast Rider 2006 for PS3 and XBox 360

The game series was especially in the late 1980s and early 1990s very successful. The first game 'Golden Axe' was an arcade game that was released by SEGA in 1989 for arcades and the Sega master system. The game was in the next years also ported to Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and PC.
In addition to be playable on all Sega games consoles and gaming machines it had been release for Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and the PC , too. The first three parts of the Game series are available for the Sega Game Consoles. Additionally there exists also 'Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, which had been release only for arcades, in 1992.
For the Playstation 2, Golden Axe was released in 2003 in a 3D version. This version also appeared in the 2005 Sega Classic Collection. In 2006, a new game of the Golden Axe Series was announced.
End of 2007, the game 'Golden Axe: Beast Rider' was published for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. .
